What is 360° feedback?
An individual receives feedback on their leadership skills from the people they work closest with – from every angle – their boss, their colleagues and their own team.
Why have I been asked to do it?
The individual has nominated you because they value your perceptions, and feel you have seen enough of them ‘in action’ at work to give a fair and balanced view.
How will my responses be used?
Your feedback will be collated along with feedback from other nominated people and presented to the individual in a feedback report. They will use this to identify what skills and capabilities they need to develop – and what strengths they have. This will be their first step towards creating a meaningful development plan.
Who will see the feedback?
The collated feedback is seen only by the individual (and us at lift); no-one in your organization will see the feedback report.
How anonymous is it?
None of the feedback you give is attributed by name. The ratings given by all the feedback-givers are grouped into three categories – manager, direct reports, and peers. The individual will see the average rating for each of these categories – they will not know the individual ratings given by each person (other than the line manager). Do be aware that when you give free-form comments (at the end of the questionnaire) it is occasionally possible from the writing style to figure out who wrote them. If this concerns you, keep your comments general, and do not use examples that would link your comments to you. To get an idea of how the feedback is reported see the sample feedback report below
I'm giving feedback for my line manager - will he/she know who said what?
To protect your anonymity, the feedback system will automatically move the feedback from a lone direct report into the ‘peers’ category. This means your feedback will contribute to the average rating of all peers.
I've known this person only a short time - should I still take part?
If you feel there are some questions you cannot answer, use the N/A option – it does not adversely affect the ratings. If you feel you cannot answer most of the questions we suggest that you don’t complete the questionnaire. Please contact us if this is the case.
